Leacey was born and raised in the mountains of western NC, where she spent much of her childhood and teenagerhood exploring all kinds of dance, from modern to belly to flamenco (and more!). Somehow, though, she wasn’t lucky enough to even discover that clogging existed until she found her way to the piedmont and saw the Apple Chill Cloggers perform at the now historic Apple Chill street festival in 2005. Immediately captivated by the high kicks and hootin’ and hollerin’, Leacey set her heart and mind to becoming a member of the team. As we know that when Leacey does this she generally gets what she wants, she was thrilled to officially join us in the spring of 2006.

When she is not dancing with the Apple Chill Cloggers (or in her kitchen or the grocery store or the halls at work), you may find Leacey welcoming new babies into the world as a Labor and Delivery nurse at UNC. She also enjoys playing her banjo, baking bread, relaxing in or around her log cabin in Efland with a certain special someone, and/or throwing sticks for her delightful dog Bailey.
